Sheila has been an artist since the early 1980's. A textile art background in weaving and surface design led her to painting, and an M.F.A. in painting from the University of Oregon.
The Spirit of creativity is mercurial and leads her in many different directions. Sheila attempts to integrate her lived experience into her work.
Multiple media blend into one another, and sometimes they stand alone. Inspiration comes from the materials themselves: paper, paint, fabric, papyrus, clay, wood grain; as well as, words, music, dreams, art history, and nature. Combined, they result in representative and abstract pieces.
