KRISTI CARPINE-TABER
PASTEL
Kristi began painting in her retirement inspired by Lopezian pastelist Steve Hill’s vibrant
depictions of the daffodil fields in the Skagit Valley. The velvety texture and boldness of the
medium made her fall in love with pastels. She has learned her craft as a pastel painter through
workshops and mentoring. She predominately paints scenes of Lopez Island and the passage to
Lopez through the Skagit Valley.
Her focus is to use her art to support the Lopez Island community. All the proceeds from the sale of
her work go to 501c3 organizations on Lopez Island, while providing affordable and uplifting
art to the community.
