About the Artist: Summer Moon Scriver - Photography
HANDS AT WORK
Portraits and Profiles of People Who Work with Their Hands, the forthcoming book, with photography by Summer Moon Scriver and stories by Iris Graville.  The show includes story excerpts and black-and-white images of the hands of six artists, who are also members of Chimera Artists’ Cooperative:  potter Nancy Bingham, letterpress printer Diana Bower, baker Holly Bower, studio jeweler Tina Finneran, weaver Sheila Metcalf, and blacksmith Craig Withrow.

Scheduled for release in November 2008, HANDS AT WORK is a response to questions about what provides meaning and fulfillment in work. Its stories and photographs offer insight into that mystical, awe-filled rightness that many people yearn for, but often don’t feel, during the long hours spent at work. Such fulfillment can be experienced in many kinds (and perhaps any kind) of work, but the people profiled in HANDS AT WORK find it in labor with their hands.
