About the Artist:
Skip Peralta
Originally trained in watercolors, Skip now works primarily in oils and acrylics. "I find that using these mediums add a solid and cohesive quaility to my work by giving body and texture while still retaining the color intensities that I so enjoy using. There should always be an element of surprise in each piece, as if cresting a hill and viewing an undiscovered valley in the sunlight for the first time. I never know quite where the paintings will take me when I begin, but my hope is to find a playful interpretation of my subjects by letting them grow out of a natural and spontaneous process. I hope that you enjoy looking at them as much as I do creating them."
Since 1979 Skip has called Lopez Island home and may be seen at Chimera Gallery and by visiting his studio (by appointment) at 22 Tinkham Ln., Lopez Island, WA. Phone: 360-468-2887.
