About the Artist: Sheila Simpson-Creps
Sheila has been painting since the late 1980's. A textile art background in weaving and surface design led her to painting and in 1991 she received a M.F.A. in painting from the University of Oregon. Her primary subject is birds. The textile art experience led her to using textured surfaces on which to paint. She uses Egg Tempera on collaged, and textured grounds as well as, Watercolor on Papyrus. More recently, in an attempt to blend the textile world with the painting world, she has been exploring scroll mounting, glazing ceramic bisqueware, and various alternative mounting processes for her paintings.
